The SCHS Bass Fishing Team competed at Lake Cumberland on Saturday, April 23rd in the Region 2 Tournament. There were 117 boats competing for the right to move on to the state tournament at Kentucky Lake in May. The top 16 teams qualify and our own Clayton Rountree and Dillon Stallings finished 9th with 5 fish weighing in at 12lbs 10oz. Their 5 fish bag consisted of smallmouth, largemouth and Kentucky spotted bass. The boys will now travel to Gilbertsville, KY for the State Tournament which launches out of Kentucky Dam Village on May 13th and 14th. In our first year, this is a huge accomplishment for our team and we have high hopes for them at the State Tournament.
Also, Max Sullivan and Dustin Hilbert weighed in a 5 fish limit of Kentucky Spotted Bass for 5lbs 14oz and finished in 38th place. This team has improved at each tournament and ended on a high note by weighing in their first limit of the season.

It was a cool and windy weekend at Conley Bottom campgrounds for the Bears fishing team. There were some good fish caught but overall the weather and lake conditions made things very tough for us. Clayton Rountree and Dillon Stallings weighed in two largemouth totaling over 6lbs. Max Sullivan and Dustin Hilbert weighed in three spotted bass totaling over 3lbs. The baits of choice were a jig, rattletrap, crankbait and shaky head.
We want to thank all of the parents and families who are helping make these trips possible along with the boat captains, our sponsors and the kids. We once again represented Spencer County well and even caught some nice fish over the course of the weekend. |
