April 21, 2018- Lake Cumberland
The Spencer County High School Bass Fishing Team competed in regional competition at Lake Cumberland on Saturday, April 21. Four boats from our team fished in hopes of qualifying for one of 29 spots from region 2 in the KHSAA State Championship to be held in May on Kentucky Lake. On a very challenging tournament day, Clayton Rountree and Dillon Stallings managed a 5-fish limit weighing in at 9lbs 5oz earning them a 19th place finish and a trip to the state tournament. With debris covering much of Lake Cumberland and the water color varying drastically on different areas of the lake, the boys caught their limit covering a lot of water and sticking with what had worked for them during practice. This is the third consecutive season that the junior duo has qualified for state competition. They will travel to Kentucky Lake and compete in the KHSAA State Championship on May 11th and 12th and look to bring our first state championship back to Taylorsville.
